Q. |
How can the Rubrics be used if a student doesn't pass a Rubric and the class goes on to the next lesson? |
| |
|
A. |
The Language Arts by Topic is not a self-paced portion of the program. The Rubric System is self-paced. They are denoted in the Language Arts by Topic Table of Contents. |

Q. |
Since the program is so structured, how can students be creative? |
| |
|
A. |
In Levels 1 & 2, students need this type of structure. This structure provides the foundation for successful writing. However, there are many areas that allow for student creativity. In Level 3, 4, & 5, the students are encouraged to add in other information in the Pre-Writes. Also, there are additional Pre-Writes that allow for even more creativity. These Pre-Writes are listed in the Language Arts by Topic Table of Contents. |

Q. |
How do I get my students to take the information from their Pre-Writes and write their Rough Drafts? |
| |
|
A. |
For Levels 3-5, the Pre-Writes are designed so that when the student answers the questions in complete sentences, they will be able to use the answers in their Rough Drafts. The students can take the answers and rewrite them in consecutive order for their Rough Drafts. They can also rephrase some of the sentences to help the flow of the paragraph. In addition, the students can add transitions, transitional phrases, and time-order words. |
|

Q. |
Why are there more Language Arts by Topic weeks than Rubrics?
|
| |
|
A. |
There are less Rubrics because many of the students will probably not pass some of the Rubrics the first time attempted, especially after they become more difficult. However, if some students excel during this process, the teachers can use the Rubric C-5 for Level 3, 4, & 5. |
